Archive: Sunlight Doesn’t Need a Pipeline: Commission

Collaboration:
Studio Hyte
Commissioned By:
Dani Admiss and Stanley Picker Gallery
Medium:
Mapping
Cyanotype
Textile Installation

Studio Hyte was commissioned to produce an engaging, low-carbon map for the Sunlight Doesn’t Need a Pipeline (SDNP) festival. We applied the same low-carbon philosophy as in the SDNP website and visual identity to the production of a 3m x 3m large scale banner, which utilised cyanotype printing techniques, and the power of the sun on textile off-cuts, to create a more sustainable print outcome.

This installation aimed to map artistic responses to the decarbonisation plan of SDNP across the four areas of ‘Access, Labour, Land & Energy’, acting as a provocation for the future of a more sustainable, low carbon and accessible art world.

The banner was displayed at the Stanley Picker Gallery during the SDNP-festival in October 2022.
